The Anambra State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mr. Charles Onubuogu, has reiterated the agency’s strong resolve to eliminate drug abuse and trafficking across the state.
Onubuogu emphasized the agency’s dedication to creating a drug-free Anambra and urged the public to place their trust in the NDLEA’s efforts. He appealed for active collaboration from residents, particularly in sharing credible information that could support the agency’s mission to rid communities of illicit drugs.
Onubuogu stressed that sustainable development cannot thrive in environments plagued by drug-related issues. He called on key stakeholders — including the media, traditional rulers, religious organizations, and non-governmental bodies — to work with the NDLEA in raising awareness about the dangers of substance abuse.
Expressing concern over the increasing cases of drug-linked offenses in parts of the state, the commander emphasized the need for collective action to address the problem.
“We can significantly reduce both the demand and supply of illegal drugs in our neighborhoods and protect the future of our children if we give this issue the attention it deserves,” he stated.
He also underscored the shared responsibility of parents and guardians in guiding young people away from harmful behaviors that could jeopardize their lives.
