The Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Maj.-Gen. Oluyemi Olatoye, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Abubakar Wase, in Kaduna.
Wase also serves as Commander, Sector 1 Joint Task Force (North West), Operation Fansan Yamma.
The visit took place at the 1 Division Headquarters in Kawo, Kaduna, in line with military tradition and was aimed at strengthening operational collaboration between the division and the academy.
Olatoye expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded to his team and commended the division for its consistent operational support to the academy, particularly through the 37 Demonstration Battalion.
He noted that the integration of the NDA into the division’s security framework had significantly improved rapid response capabilities against threats within the academy and surrounding communities.
“We must acknowledge the visible improvements in security around the Nigerian Defence Academy,” he said.
“Under determined leadership, previous security gaps have been addressed, ensuring sustained protection of our personnel, infrastructure and training activities.”
In his remarks, Wase praised the commandant for his leadership and continued support for training and institutional cooperation.
He reaffirmed the division’s commitment to supporting the NDA and other military formations, stressing that effective collaboration remains essential to operational success in the region.
