National Security: DEPOWA President Hails Frontline Troops for Their Sacrifices, Dedication

The President of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs. Oghogho Musa, has paid tribute to frontline troops for their dedication and sacrifices in ensuring national security, reiterating the association’s steadfast support.Mrs. Musa conveyed this commendation during a Fitness and Wellness Session, titled “DEPOWA Dance Aerobics Exercise,” held on Saturday in Abuja. She extended a special message of gratitude to the personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria deployed across various operational theaters.She stated that the event was part of DEPOWA’s year-long campaign to honour troops, aimed at boosting morale, celebrating their sacrifices, and strengthening family support systems within the military community.“On behalf of DEPOWA and our sister associations, we send this heartfelt message to our heroes: We see you, we salute you, and we thank you,” she said. “Thank you for staying awake so that we can sleep in peace, for standing guard to keep our homes safe, and for bringing comfort through your courage and commitment.”The DEPOWA President prayed for the continued divine protection of the armed forces and urged them to remain resolute until lasting peace is restored nationwide. She also reaffirmed the association’s commitment to sustaining welfare initiatives and morale-boosting programs for military families.Transitioning to the fitness segment, Mrs. Musa applauded members for their enthusiasm and progress since the program’s inception earlier in the year. She encouraged them to prioritize physical fitness, nutrition, and mental well-being as integral components of their contribution to family and national well-being.Emphasizing the importance of a holistic approach to health, she advised that “nutrition is 70 per cent, while exercise is 30 per cent,” urging members to adopt balanced diets, drink plenty of water, and avoid carbonated drinks. She noted that DEPOWA events deliberately serve fruits, fresh juices, and water to promote healthy living.Mrs. Musa highlighted that consistent exercise and proper nutrition contribute to emotional stability and family harmony, stating, “A healthy woman is a happy woman; and a happy, healthy woman builds a strong, productive family and nation.”The session included medical check-ups and wellness assessments for participants, designed to monitor improvements in blood pressure, stamina, and overall health.
