National Assembly Staff Forum Urges PASAN Faction to Pursue Lawful Channels

The Progressive Staff Forum of the National Assembly has advised a faction of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) to pursue legitimate avenues in addressing their grievances rather than disrupting legislative activities.

In a statement released on Monday in Abuja, the forum’s coordinator, Comrade Isah Mohammed, urged the aggrieved staff to present their concerns through the appropriate authorities. He noted that issues relating to alleged financial impropriety could be reported to bodies such as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) or the Nigeria Police Force.

Mohammed warned that picketing or blocking access to the National Assembly could negatively affect parliamentary business, stressing that internal disputes within PASAN should not obstruct legislative duties.

He explained that the Clerk of the National Assembly, Barrister Kamoru Ogunlana, had already set up a committee to investigate the matter and address staff concerns.

The forum further called on security agencies to maintain order within the National Assembly complex in case of any planned demonstrations. “We urge the DSS and the police to remain vigilant and ensure that those responsible are held accountable if law and order break down,” the statement read.

It also appealed to all staff to embrace dialogue and lawful processes in resolving internal disagreements, describing these approaches as the most effective means of maintaining harmony.
