The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Dr Danladi Jatau, has confirmed that the Garaku–Bassa Road construction project has been captured in the 2026 state budget.
Jatau expressed optimism that the Nasarawa State Government would soon commence construction of the road.
He made this known on Monday in Lafia while receiving stakeholders from Bassa District of Kokona Local Government Area in his office.
The speaker, who represents Kokona West Constituency, said the road project would enhance agricultural activities, boost farmers’ revenue and improve socio-economic development in the area.
“By God’s grace, Bassa Road will be constructed by our amiable Governor, Abdullahi Sule. He has given us the assurance that the road will be completed before his tenure expires, and it has been captured in the 2026 budget,” he said.
Jatau also appreciated the stakeholders for calling on him to contest for the House of Representatives seat of Keffi/Karu/Kokona Federal Constituency in 2027.
He confirmed his intention to vie for the position and pledged to deliver more developmental projects if elected.
“I have accepted to contest for the seat of Keffi/Karu/Kokona Federal Constituency in 2027, as leadership comes from God. Please continue to pray for me to succeed. I appreciate you for electing and supporting me for the race,” he said.
He promised increased project execution, employment opportunities, empowerment programmes and appointments if elected.
The speaker further commended the people for maintaining peace and unity despite their diverse political affiliations.
He pledged to continue providing quality representation and projects for Kokona West Constituency, while appreciating the stakeholders for printing 2,000 T-shirts, caps and campaign banners in support of his ambition.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Mr Shuaibu Salihu-Salau, said the visit was to appreciate Jatau for his performance, particularly in employment and empowerment initiatives.
“This visit is also to endorse you for the seat of Keffi/Karu/Kokona Federal Constituency come 2027,” he said.
Salihu-Salau assured the speaker of the delegation’s readiness to mobilise support across Kokona and other local government areas for his House of Representatives bid.
He, however, appealed to the state government to fast-track the construction of the Bassa Road, as well as provide more employment, empowerment opportunities and development projects.
