NAHCON Inaugurates 17-Member Security Committee for 2026 Hajj Operations

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Amb. Ismaila Yusuf, has inaugurated a 17-member Central Security Committee (CSC) to oversee security arrangements for the 2026 Hajj operations.

The inauguration took place in Abuja, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by Shafii Sani, Principal Information Officer of NAHCON.

Yusuf said the committee had been tasked with ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of Nigerian pilgrims during both the domestic and international phases of the 2026 Hajj exercise.

He urged members of the committee to adopt proactive and preventive measures, including close monitoring of departure centres to screen out undesirable individuals and prevent crimes such as drug trafficking and human trafficking.

The NAHCON chairman also advised the committee to carry out its responsibilities with diligence, integrity, and a strong sense of duty, while ensuring that pilgrims receive quality services throughout the Hajj process.

He further encouraged the committee to collaborate closely with security and intelligence agencies on matters related to national security in order to protect pilgrims and safeguard Nigeria’s reputation abroad.

In his response, the head of the committee, Amb. Lawal Rabiu, expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in the committee members.

Rabiu assured that the committee would work with relevant security agencies to gather intelligence, coordinate operations, and address any potential security challenges that may arise during the 2026 Hajj operations.
