The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced that its Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma (OPFY), Sector 3, carried out precision airstrikes against armed groups in parts of Kwara State.
This was disclosed in a statement on Monday in Abuja by Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF.
The release explained that several coordinated missions were executed on Sunday in Kakihun, Oke-Ode, Babanla, and nearby settlements.
Reconnaissance and close air support flights were deployed to disrupt emerging threats, striking identified hostile targets east of Babanla.
Gabkwet noted that simultaneous surveillance operations also monitored key locations and military assets, collecting crucial intelligence to assist ongoing ground activities.
“These missions underscore NAF’s dedication to safeguarding troops and civilians, maintaining operational dominance, and sustaining pressure on violent actors,” he stated.
He reassured Nigerians of the Air Force’s steadfast commitment to defend the nation’s airspace and protect vulnerable communities.
Gabkwet urged citizens to stay alert and cooperate with the Armed Forces as security operations continue to secure peace and stability across the region.
