A group of Muslim women under the Al-Khidmal Khairiyya Foundation has provided food items and cash assistance to more than 4,000 vulnerable persons in Sokoto State as part of Ramadan outreach.
The beneficiaries included orphaned mothers, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and other vulnerable individuals across the state.
Inaugurating the exercise on Sunday, Prof. Mansur Ibrahim, Chairman of the foundation’s Board of Trustees, described the gesture as a practical response to societal challenges.
He urged beneficiaries to make wise use of the support and encouraged them to extend assistance to others within their communities.
“I want to encourage all of you to give out the little you have to others, particularly during Ramadan,” Ibrahim said, noting that generosity attracts both worldly benefits and spiritual rewards.
He commended the foundation’s sustained commitment to supporting the less privileged and called on wealthy individuals to emulate the initiative, especially in the current economic climate.
Also speaking, Malam Lawal Maidoki, Chairman of the Sokoto State Zakat and Endowment Agency (SOZEA), said the intervention reflected Islam’s principle of assisting those genuinely in need.
He added that acts of charity bring donors closer to Allah and the Holy Prophet, particularly on the Day of Judgment.
The State Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Malam Jabir Mai-Hula, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable groups and emphasised the importance of collective responsibility in alleviating hardship.
Similarly, Alhaji Ali Musa, Chairman of the Sokoto State Pilgrim Welfare Agency, donated N400,000 and ten bags of rice on behalf of his family for distribution.
Prof. Sadiya Umar and Dr. Muhammad Abdullahi also highlighted the spiritual and social value of feeding the needy during Ramadan.
Earlier, Hajiya Amina Yusuf, Amira of the foundation, said the outreach formed part of the group’s ongoing commitment to easing hardship and promoting compassion in society.
