Minister launches Tinubu support group in Katsina

Katsina, May 17, 2026 The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Alhaji Muttaqa Rabe-Darma, has unveiled the Grassroots Mobilisation for Tinubu and Dikko (GMTD) support group in Katsina State as part of efforts to boost political mobilisation at the community level.

The group is designed to rally support for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Dikko Umaru Radda across the state.

The inauguration ceremony drew party stakeholders, youth representatives, women groups and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from different parts of Katsina State.

Many party supporters described the initiative as an important step toward strengthening political structures ahead of future elections.

Speaking at the event, Rabe-Darma said the organisation would help expand grassroots engagement and reinforce public confidence in the APC leadership.

According to him, the platform would bring supporters together and widen the party’s reach across various communities.

The minister also pledged to collaborate closely with the leadership of the group to ensure the successful implementation of its objectives.

He assured members of his continued support and commitment to activities that encourage unity and political progress.

Rabe-Darma further disclosed plans to officially inaugurate the group’s state office in the coming weeks.

He noted that the occasion is expected to attract top APC officials, political allies and other influential stakeholders.

The minister reaffirmed his dedication to sustaining the initiative and urged newly sworn-in officials to remain disciplined, patient and committed to effective grassroots mobilisation.

Earlier, the Chairman of GMTD, Abubakar Soja-Tsanni, described Rabe-Darma as a major influence in his political career.

He commended the minister for his mentorship, encouragement and support over the years, particularly for young politicians.

Also speaking, the member representing Rimi/Charanchi/Batagarawa Federal Constituency, Usman Banye, applauded the initiative and its focus on grassroots participation.

Banye said support groups play a vital role in voter mobilisation and political awareness.

He also described Rabe-Darma as a longstanding political activist dating back to the era of the late Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.

According to him, the minister has consistently provided support to upcoming politicians irrespective of their financial standing.

He encouraged young people to stay united, organised and actively involved in constructive political activities as future elections approach.
