Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have killed several Boko Haram commanders and dozens of fighters during a series of counter-insurgency operations in Borno and Yobe States over the past week
The operations, carried out between August 21 and 23 with coordinated ground assaults and precision airstrikes, also led to the recovery of weapons, ammunition, and motorcycles from the insurgents.
Military sources disclosed that troops foiled attempted terrorist attacks on Bita and Wulgo communities in Borno, where 11 insurgents were killed, including two field commanders identified as Abu Nazir (Munzir of Juye) and Abu Fatima (Munzir of Koloram).
On August 22, soldiers of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade, supported by the Air Component, repelled a night raid on the Forward Operating Base at Kumshe. Subsequent airstrikes inflicted heavy casualties, with over 20 bodies and remains of fighters later discovered in shallow graves.
Elsewhere in Bama Local Government Area, Sector 1 troops engaged terrorists at Dipchari near Banki Junction, killing more fighters and seizing RPG tubes, AK-47 rifles, loaded magazines, ammunition, and motorcycles.
In Yobe State, Sector 2 troops, working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), conducted a raid on terrorist hideouts in Ndoksa near Buni Gari on August 23. The operation resulted in further eliminations and recovery of more weapons and motorcycles.
Military authorities confirmed that the sustained offensive has significantly weakened insurgent leadership, reduced their firepower, and disrupted logistics. The High Command also praised the resilience and bravery of the troops, urging them to maintain the momentum in ongoing operations.
