Abeokuta, June 1, 2026 — The management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, has dismissed 365 students after they were found to have gained admission using falsified academic credentials.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday in Abeokuta by the institution’s Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Mr Yemi Ajibola.
Ajibola said the affected students were spread across various Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes in different schools within the polytechnic.
He explained that investigations showed the students submitted fake National Diploma (ND) results as well as forged transcripts from other institutions to secure admission.
According to him, the discovery followed a comprehensive verification exercise conducted on documents submitted during the admission and registration processes.
He added that the action was taken to strengthen academic integrity and rid the institution of fraudulent practices.
The statement reaffirmed the institution’s zero-tolerance stance on forgery, fraud, and other forms of academic misconduct.
It further revealed that 156 of the expelled students were from the School of Communication and Information Technology, 117 from the School of Business and Management Studies, and 54 from the School of Science and Technology. The School of Engineering accounted for 36, while two students were affected in the School of Environmental Studies.
The Rector, Dr Koye Jolaoso, cautioned prospective applicants against presenting fake credentials, stressing that the institution would not compromise on academic standards.
He said the decision underscored MAPOLY’s commitment to academic excellence, transparency, and professionalism in tertiary education.
