Man Arrested in Oyo for Allegedly Killing Brother Over Dream Claim

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested a 43-year-old man for allegedly killing his elder brother, Mustapha Amidu, over claims that the deceased “shot him” in a dream.

The incident was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday in Ibadan by the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka.

According to the statement, the case was reported at the Ago-Amodu Divisional Police Headquarters by Badmus Yunisa of Alegunlode Compound, Sepeteri area of Oyo State.

The police spokesperson said the suspect allegedly approached the deceased while he was seated, picked up a heavy rock, struck him on the head and fled the scene.

The victim was rushed to Ileri Oluwa Hospital in Sepeteri for medical attention but was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.

Olayinka said a team of police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of Ago-Amodu Division visited both the scene of the incident and the hospital as part of preliminary investigations.

He added that the suspect has been arrested and reportedly confessed to the crime, and is currently cooperating with investigators.

The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

The commissioner assured the public that justice would be pursued diligently and in accordance with the law.
