The Police in Lagos on Tuesday arraigned a 32-year-old man, Sodiq Moshood in a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged stealing of a tricycle valued at N2, 170,000.
The defendant, whose address is unknown, is being charged with stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, ASP Edet Ekpo, told the Court that the defendant committed the offence on Sept.14, at about 6.00.a.m at Ilogbo-Eremi area of Badagry, Lagos.
Ekpo alleged that the defendant stole a Bajaj tricycle with registration number LND 605 QL valued at N2, 170,000 property of Ibrahim Egbetayo, the complainant.
“The defendant was arrested the following day while trying to sell the tricycle and handed over to Police for prosecution.
“The offences contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Lagos, 2015,” he said.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Nurudeen Layeni granted the defendant bail in the sum N500, 000 with two sureties in the like sum.
He said that one of the sureties must be a company director.
Layeni adjourned the case until Oct. 22, for mention.
