Man, 25, Taken to Court for Allegedly Stealing Aluminium Worth N200,000

A 25-year-old man, Toheeb Musbau, was on Monday brought before the Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court by the Lagos State Police for allegedly stealing aluminium windows valued at N200,000.

Musbau, whose residential address was not disclosed, is facing charges of stealing and conspiracy to commit a felony. He pleaded not guilty to the allegations.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, informed the court that the alleged offence occurred on August 15 at around 2:00 p.m. along Amunipe Street, Ibiye, Badagry, Lagos.

Ekpo claimed that the defendant, along with unidentified accomplices, conspired to steal the aluminium windows, which are reportedly owned by one Lapa Muritala, the complainant in the case.

“The defendant was apprehended and handed over to the police for appropriate legal action,” the prosecutor told the court.

Ekpo noted that the charges are in violation of Sections 409 and 287 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.

Chief Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni granted Musbau bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in the same amount. He further stated that at least one surety must be self-employed.

The case was adjourned to September 24.
