Man, 22, docked over alleged N3.1m theft 

A 22-year old man, Olumide Busari, on Tuesday appeared before an Ota Magistrates ‘Court in Ogun, for allegedly stealing N3.1 million belonging to his employer.

Busari, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of fraud and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, ASP E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offences at about 4.00p.m on Oct. 10, 2024, beside Basho Petrol Station, Dalemo, Sango-Ota.

Adaraloye said that Busari  fraudulently obtained the sum of N3.1 million from a firm, Leanha Technologies Limited with the pretext of saving the money.

“The defendant did not save the money, he converted the money belonging to his employer to his personal use.”he said.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Section 390 and 419 of Criminal Code Vol. 1, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fadairo, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000, with a surety in like sum.

Fadairo said that the surety who should reside within the court’s jurisdiction, must be gainfully employed, and should provide evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.

The magistrate adjourned the matter until Nov. 26 for further hearing.
