Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has assured families of victims abducted in Oriire Local Government Area that every available resource is being deployed to secure their safe return.
The governor gave the assurance during a meeting with relatives of the abductees, community leaders and residents at Ahoro-Esiele community on Saturday evening.
Makinde acknowledged the emotional trauma being experienced by the affected families, noting that the government remained fully committed to ensuring the victims were rescued unharmed.
According to him, security efforts have been intensified since the incident occurred, with continuous coordination among relevant agencies to accelerate rescue operations.
He disclosed that he had been holding regular security briefings and maintaining close contact with security operatives overseeing the mission.
The governor pledged that the state government would continue to support all efforts aimed at bringing the abducted individuals back safely.
Makinde condemned the kidnapping, describing it as a reprehensible act that could not be justified under any circumstances.
He also paid tribute to members of the state’s security architecture, particularly operatives of the Amotekun Corps, for their sacrifices in combating crime and protecting communities across Oyo State.
The governor noted that many personnel had lost their lives in the line of duty while working to improve security in the state.
During the meeting, family members of the victims appealed for urgent intervention to secure the release of their loved ones.
Among those who spoke were Prof. Wole Alamu and Mr. Aliu Saidi, who urged the government and security agencies to intensify efforts toward a swift resolution of the situation.
Following his interaction with residents, Makinde held a private session with parents and relatives of the abducted pupils and teachers, where updates on ongoing rescue operations were discussed.
The incident has heightened concerns about security in the affected area, with residents calling for stronger measures to combat kidnapping and improve safety along border communities within the state.
