Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has expressed deep condolences to acclaimed Nigerian author Chimamanda Adichie following the tragic loss of her son.
Obi, in a condolence message shared on his X account on Friday, revealed that he had been closely following the health updates of Adichie’s son, Nkanu, since being informed of his illness on January 2.
Chimamanda Adichie’s 21-month-old toddler passed away on Wednesday, leaving family, friends, and admirers in mourning.
Obi said he empathised deeply with Adichie and her family during this painful period, sharing in their anxiety, offering prayers, and hoping for a recovery that, sadly, did not come.
“The news I received yesterday morning was profoundly heartbreaking,” Obi stated.
“I am truly devastated, imagining the immense grief my dear sister must be enduring as a mother, alongside her husband, Dr. Ivara.
“My heartfelt condolences go to them and their entire family at this moment of unimaginable loss.
“May God grant them strength, comfort, and grace to endure this sorrow, and may Nkanu’s soul rest in eternal peace,” he added.
