Makkah, May 29, 2026 — Members of the National Assembly Joint Committee on Hajj have carried out an on-the-spot assessment of facilities and welfare services provided to Nigerian pilgrims in Mina as part of oversight activities for the 2026 pilgrimage.
The delegation, led by Senator Ali Ndume and comprising members of the Senate and House of Representatives Hajj sub-committees, visited several accommodation tents to evaluate services coordinated by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
During the tour, the lawmakers inspected camps accommodating pilgrims from Kwara, Rivers, Ondo and Adamawa states, reviewing provisions such as lodging, healthcare, feeding, transportation and general welfare support.
They also engaged pilgrims directly to obtain feedback on the quality of services being delivered. Many of the pilgrims expressed satisfaction and commended NAHCON for improvements in welfare arrangements.
Senator Ndume said the visit was aimed at identifying areas that still require enhancement in future operations.
He encouraged pilgrims to embrace the spirit of sacrifice that defines the Hajj exercise, noting that expectations should remain modest in line with the religious significance of the pilgrimage.
According to him, “Hajj is about sacrifice, and pilgrims should endure the conditions with the belief that the reward from Allah is immense.”
He further urged the pilgrims to pray for Nigeria’s leaders and the nation as it continues to navigate social, political and security challenges.
