Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has formally withdrawn from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), citing unresolved issues within the party’s national leadership.
Adeleke communicated his resignation in a letter dated November 4 and addressed to the chairman of Sagba Abogunde Ward 2 in Ede North Local Government Area. The letter became public early Tuesday in Osogbo.
In it, the governor explained that the prolonged internal conflicts at the national level had made his continued membership untenable.
“I hereby resign my membership of the People’s Democratic Party with immediate effect due to the current crisis affecting the party’s national leadership,” he wrote, while expressing appreciation for the platform that enabled his emergence as a senator and later as governor.
Although Adeleke did not reveal his next political destination, sources indicate he is likely to join the Accord Party soon.
His exit comes less than two years before the next Osun governorship election, which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled for August 8, 2026.
