Late Ilorin Chief Imam remembered as a role model for the Muslim community — Kwara Govt

The Kwara State Government has hailed the late Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Bashiru Solihu, as an exemplary leader whose life and service inspired Muslims across Nigeria.

The Special Adviser to the State Government, Alhaji Saadu Salaudeen, made the remarks at Babatunde Idiagbon Airport, Ilorin, while leading a delegation to receive the remains of the late Chief Imam from Abuja.

Salaudeen described Sheikh Solihu as a globally respected Islamic scholar, noting his integrity, moral character, and dedication to faith.

“He was deeply respected by the faithful and will be greatly missed. He lived the teachings of Islam, promoted peaceful coexistence between Muslims and non-Muslims, and championed unity,” he said.

He also extended condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, the Kwara State Council of Ulama, and the people of the Ilorin Emirate.

Senator Salihu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, described the late Chief Imam as a noble and principled man, adding that both Ilorin and the wider world have lost a pious and compassionate figure. He prayed that Allah grant the deceased Aljannah Firdaus.

Sheikh Muyideen Hassan, the Chief Imam of Offa, praised Sheikh Solihu as a kind-hearted leader who nurtured many Islamic scholars under his guidance. He also conveyed his condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the Council of Ulama, and the entire Ilorin Emirate.

The late Chief Imam’s legacy, marked by scholarship, humility, and service to humanity, is set to remain a source of inspiration for generations of Muslims.
