Lagos CP Launches Statewide ‘Show-of-Force’ Security Operation Ahead of Festive Season

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Mr. Olohundare Jimoh, on Wednesday inaugurated a statewide ‘Show-of-Force’ security operation involving the police, military, and other law enforcement agencies.

Speaking with journalists in Ikeja, Jimoh said the operation is designed to enhance safety across Lagos as activities peak during the festive season. He noted that the joint exercise aims to improve inter-agency coordination, strengthen crime prevention, and reassure residents of their safety.

“We are carrying out what we call the show-of-force exercise,” he said. “The police, the military, and other technical units are involved, reflecting the need to address growing concerns among city residents.”

According to him, the operation covers schools, religious centres, business districts, markets, and other public areas within Lagos and surrounding communities. He added that deployments are not limited to the city centre but extend to all parts of the state.

“As we enter December, the peak of activities, we want people to know they can move around safely,” he said. “We have ordered deployments to all schools and religious areas of worship, and we are working across all communities.”

Jimoh described the exercise as one of the most comprehensive security operations in the country and said it will significantly boost crime prevention and public confidence. He encouraged residents—and those traveling into or out of Lagos—to celebrate the festive season without fear.

He, however, appealed to the public to support security efforts by cooperating with officers and providing useful information to aid crime prevention.

According to the CP, the operation is structured to remain effective beyond December to ensure sustained security across the state.

“We have the capacity, and we are ready for full joint operations between the police, the military, and other agencies. The goal is to keep every part of the country safe,” he said.

Jimoh assured the public of the unwavering commitment of security agencies to protect lives and property, adding that officers have already been deployed to multiple locations to monitor activities and respond promptly.
