Victims of the recent attack on Kurmin Wali community in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State have begun recounting their harrowing experiences, while expressing confidence in the leadership of Governor Uba Sani.
One survivor, who identified himself only as Joseph, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the attackers invaded the community early Sunday morning while residents were gathered for worship.
He said the assailants ordered the worshippers to lie face down before marching them toward a nearby bush. Joseph managed to escape during the ensuing confusion and later reached safety.
Joseph commended Governor Sani for personally visiting the community to sympathize with victims and assess the situation on the ground. He described the governor’s leadership as compassionate and people-centred and expressed confidence in the administration’s commitment to the security and wellbeing of residents.
He also prayed for the success of the governor’s ongoing efforts to ensure lasting peace and security in the state.
Meanwhile, victims of the attack have been evacuated to Kaduna for medical treatment and psychosocial support, in line with assurances given by the governor during his visit to the affected community.
