Josh Olaoluwa, producer of the star-studded Kenyan-Nigerian thriller, has confirmed that 1 Woman 1 Bra will have its world premiere at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival. The announcement was made on his verified Instagram page, where he expressed excitement and gratitude for the milestone.
“It’s official! We’re having our World Premiere for 1 Woman 1 Bra at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival,” Olaoluwa wrote. He added:
“I am deeply grateful to God for this incredible feat, as He continues to show me that all things are possible through Him who is my strength. To my writer/director @ms.vincho — we did it! You’ve worked tirelessly these past months, and now I’m happy for the world to finally experience One Woman One Bra. To the entire cast and crew, this one is for us. And to the amazing community of Loita, thank you for opening your hearts to us; we can’t wait to bring this film back to you.”
The 82nd Venice International Film Festival will take place from August 27 to September 6, 2025, at Venice Lido, Italy.
Written and directed by Kenyan filmmaker Vincho Nchogu, 1 Woman 1 Bra marks the first-ever film collaboration between Kenya and Nigeria. The project was also selected as one of only four global films to receive a €200,000 production grant from the Biennale College Cinema 2024/2025 programme.
Shot entirely in Kenya with cinematography by Muhammad Ahmed, the film features a remarkable cast including Sarah Karei, Norng’aruani Kipuker, Amos Leuka, Irungu Mutu, and Davina Leonard. Blending comedy, drama, and cultural nuance, the story follows a woman’s humorous yet moving journey to find the perfect bra while reclaiming her identity within her community.
The Venice International Film Festival is widely regarded as the oldest film festival in the world and is considered one of the “Big Five” global film festivals alongside Cannes and Berlin. For the 2025 edition, American filmmaker Alexander Payne will serve as Jury President for the main competition, while Italian actress and model Emanuela Fanelli will host the opening and closing ceremonies.
