Kebbi Government Approves Mobile Police Base for Zuru

Birnin Kebbi, June 13, 2026 – Efforts to strengthen security in Kebbi South received a boost as the Kebbi State Government officially allocated land for the construction of a new Police Mobile Force Base in Zuru.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Abdullahi Idris-Zuru.

According to the statement, the land handover ceremony took place at a designated site in Zuru and was conducted by the Emir of Zuru, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi-Mika’ilu, Sami Gomo III.

The parcel of land was received on behalf of the state police command by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Abubakar Umar-Ambursa.

Idris-Zuru explained that the project is in line with Governor Nasir Idris’ commitment to improving security across the state and follows recent directives aimed at strengthening security operations and enhancing the effectiveness of law enforcement agencies.

Speaking during the event, the Emir of Zuru praised the governor for prioritising the safety of residents and supporting security institutions in their efforts to tackle criminal activities.

He noted that despite security challenges affecting several parts of the country, the Kebbi State Government has consistently provided operational support, including vehicles, logistics and financial assistance, to security agencies.

The monarch expressed confidence that the proposed Mobile Police Force Base would bolster ongoing operations against banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities across the seven local government areas that make up Kebbi South.

He added that the facility would complement the efforts of existing security formations and contribute to maintaining peace and stability in the region.

The governor’s aide also called on residents to continue cooperating with government initiatives and security agencies while offering prayers for lasting peace and improved security throughout the state.

The project is expected to further strengthen the security framework in the area and enhance the capacity of law enforcement personnel to respond swiftly to emerging threats.
