Katsina: Safana LG Chairman Distributes 10 Vehicles, Empowers 1,322 Residents

Safana, Katsina State — The Chairman of Safana Local Government Area, Alhaji Abdullahi Sani, has distributed 10 vehicles to councilors and empowered 1,322 residents as part of a large-scale economic support programme.

The empowerment exercise was launched on Thursday in Safana by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, who is currently on an inspection tour of the 34 LGAs in the state, which began on Nov. 24.

Governor Radda praised the Chairman for what he described as “the best and most far-reaching empowerment initiative” he had witnessed during his tour.

He commended Sani for demonstrating exceptional leadership and commitment to grassroots development, noting that the initiative reflects the true essence of strengthened local government autonomy.

According to the governor, the empowerment programme represents a deliberate strategy to expand local enterprise, promote self-reliance, and reinforce the economic resilience of Safana communities.

“This is what local government autonomy is meant to achieve — development that starts from the grassroots and directly transforms the lives of ordinary people,” Radda said.

“What Safana has done today is outstanding and stands as the most expansive empowerment programme I have witnessed since beginning my local government engagements.

“Our administration will continue to deepen empowerment initiatives, strengthen local governance structures, and support programmes that uplift youths, women, and vulnerable groups across Katsina.”

Earlier, Chairman Sani expressed appreciation to the governor for enabling the initiative through the release of LG allocations.

Items distributed during the empowerment included sewing, grinding and noodle-making machines, motorcycles, a council bus, power tillers, and a vehicle for the APC Local Government Chairman.

Others included bags of flour, tricycles for persons with disabilities, and cash support for women, youths, vulnerable persons, as well as APC local government and ward executives.

Before launching the programme, Governor Radda visited the District Head of Safana, Yariman Katsina, Alhaji Sada Rufa’i, and interacted with stakeholders across the LGA.
