Katsina govt approves full digital upgrade of KTTV

The Katsina State Government has approved a full digital upgrade of its state-owned television station, Katsina State Television (KTTV), including the installation of a 5KW main transmitter, a 2.2KW backup transmitter, and a solar power system.

The Commissioner of Information, Dr. Bala Salisu-Zango, announced the decision at a press briefing on Thursday while speaking on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting. He explained that the current KTTV transmitter, installed over 30 years ago, had become obsolete and could no longer meet modern broadcast standards.

“With this upgrade, KTTV will operate fully on satellite, accessible through decoders and regular home antennas. It will deliver high-resolution sound and video content, positioning the station as a genuine hub for information, education, and entertainment,” Salisu-Zango said.

Also addressing journalists, the Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Mr. Sani Magaji-Ingawa, disclosed that the council had approved the completion of the Katsina State Transport Authority (KTSTA) Modern Terminal at Dandagoro. He explained that the project, once completed, would modernise the state capital, improve transportation, and stimulate socio-economic activities.

According to him, the initiative marks another bold step in aligning Katsina State with contemporary urban development standards.
