Kano Pilgrims Board Approves Refunds, Advises Applicants to Confirm Payment Details

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has confirmed that it has completed the payment of refunds to intending pilgrims affected by adjustments in the 2026 Hajj fare.

This was disclosed in a statement issued in Kano by the Director-General of the Board, Abubakar Ibrahim-Matawalle, through the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Dederi.

According to the statement, the refunds were paid to pilgrims who had earlier deposited the initial Hajj fare, with about five groups of beneficiaries already receiving their payments.

He explained that the original fare of N8.5 million was later reduced to N7.6 million, and the difference has now been fully returned to those affected.

The Director-General advised intending pilgrims who are yet to receive their refunds to check with their banks or contact Hajj officials in their respective local government areas for clarification.

He added that the board has now fulfilled its obligation regarding the settlement of outstanding balances linked to the fare adjustment.

The development comes as part of ongoing preparations for smooth participation in the upcoming Hajj exercise.
