Kaduna Records 306 Fire Outbreaks, 10 Deaths in 2025

The Kaduna State Fire Service recorded no fewer than 306 fire outbreaks across the state in 2025, resulting in 10 deaths.

The incidents occurred in Kafanchan, Zaria and Kaduna metropolis, according to the Assistant Controller of the service, Paul Aboi.

He disclosed that 19 people were rescued without injuries, while 48 others sustained varying degrees of injuries during the incidents.

Aboi said properties valued at about ₦14 billion were saved through the intervention of the fire service, although fires still destroyed assets estimated at ₦6.4 billion within the year.

He identified bush burning, carelessness and the improper use of electrical appliances as the major causes of the outbreaks.

The fire service, he said, will continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure swift response and effective service delivery.

Aboi also reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to public sensitisation and improved emergency response to reduce fire incidents across the state.
