Kaduna PDP Secretary Resigns Amid Internal Crisis

Mr. Sa’idu Adamu, the suspended Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, has officially resigned from the party, citing unresolved internal conflicts and a loss of core party values.

In a statement issued on Monday in Kaduna, Adamu expressed dismay over what he described as the PDP’s deviation from its foundational ideals, which he said made it difficult to continue his involvement with integrity.

A former member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly and a four-time Commissioner for Information, Adamu voiced his disappointment over the party’s deepening leadership issues. He pointed to persistent factionalism and the exodus of seasoned party members—many of whom have since joined the All Progressives Congress (APC)—as signs of worsening instability.

“The ongoing crises, the breakdown of internal democracy, and the visible division within our ranks have destroyed unity and trust, making constructive political engagement nearly impossible,” he said.

Adamu noted that his decision followed in-depth consultations with his family, political allies, and associates who shared similar concerns about the direction of the party. He insisted the move was based on principle rather than personal ambition.

“I want to work in a political environment that promotes fairness, respects loyalty, and is committed to sincere public service,” he added.

He described the PDP’s internal culture as increasingly “toxic and counterproductive,” saying it no longer aligned with the values he stood for. While thanking the party for the platform it provided during his political journey, Adamu said remaining within its fold was no longer tenable.

His resignation comes shortly after the Kaduna State chapter of the PDP announced his suspension over allegations of gross misconduct and anti-party activities.

According to a statement released on October 7, 2025, by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Mrs. Maria Dogo, the suspension was based on the provisions of the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended), specifically Articles 58(1)(h) and 57(3).

The State Working Committee (SWC) reportedly reached the decision on October 6, during a meeting held at the party’s secretariat in Kaduna. The suspension, effective immediately, was to last for one month pending the outcome of a formal investigation.

During the suspension period, Adamu was barred from participating in party activities at all levels.

The party also reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline and upholding internal justice, under the leadership of State Chairman Mr. Edward Percy Masha. The SWC stated that its current efforts aim to reform the party’s structure and improve accountability across board.
