Iran has issued a stern warning to the United States over any military presence in the Strait of Hormuz, cautioning that foreign forces approaching the strategic waterway could face consequences.
In a statement attributed to Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, the country’s top military command said any “foreign armed forces,” particularly U.S. troops, would be targeted if they attempted to enter the area.
The remarks followed an announcement by the United States that it would begin operations to assist vessels reportedly stranded in the maritime corridor.
Iranian military authorities reiterated that control and security of the Strait of Hormuz remain under their jurisdiction, stressing that safe passage for ships must be coordinated with its armed forces.
They maintained that uncoordinated foreign military activity in the region would not be tolerated, underscoring long-standing tensions over navigation and security in the critical shipping route.
