I’ll No Longer Grant Interviews, Igboho Assures

Yoruba Nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemi, who is popularly known as Sunday Igboho, on Wednesday said he will no longer grant media interviews to newsmen.

Adeyemo stated this in a post on his Instagram page, on Wednesday.

He said the decision followed concerns by “beautiful people” urging him to stay off media utterances that may again pitch him against the government.

The Igboho, Oyo State-born agitator recently returned to the country after over three years sojourn outside the country after his house was invaded by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).

The Yoruba Nation crusader said he returned back to the country to give his late mother who died while he was outside the country, a befitting burial.

The statement reads: “Beautiful people! I’ve been seeing all your comments and I appreciate your love and concern. I know you’re all worried about me because of past occurrences and I want to tell you that you all have a point.

“I’ve listened to your advices and will grant no more interviews,” Adeyemo said.

He urged journalists willing to speak with him to reach out to his lawyer, Mr. Pelumi Olajengbesi.

“Any journalists who is interested in finding facts should reach out to my lawyer, Barrister Pelumi Olajengbesi,” Igboho said.

Igboho got into trouble with the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari over his agitation for the Yoruba people to have a separate country.

In the heat of killings that pervaded the Southwest states, the Igboho mobilized his men to sack notorious bandits terrorizing Igangan, a town in the Ibarapa part of Oyo State.

He further warmed himself into the hearts of his supporters when he led peaceful street protests to mobilize for a separate nation for the Yorubas in some Southwest states.

Two persons were murdered in his house in the midnight raid on his house by the combined team of the army and DSS leading to his escape to Benin Republic where he was eventually arrested and tried before his release in 2023.

Many people have however shown concerns over what they considered his utterances which are feared could get him into trouble with the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
