A 38-year-old housewife, Temitayo Adefioye, was on Thursday arraigned before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly threatening to kill her former husband.
Adefioye, whose address was not provided, is facing charges of assault, threat to life, and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace.
The prosecution counsel, Insp. Olagoke Adegbenro, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Aug. 13 at Badeku, Ibadan.
Adegbenro alleged that Adefioye hired thugs to beat up her ex-husband, Mr. Akintomide Oladotun, and brought acid and petrol into his compound with the intention of harming him.
He further said the defendant sent several threatening messages to Oladotun, actions which contravene Sections 351, 86, and 249(d) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
Magistrate Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The magistrate ordered that the sureties must be blood relatives of the defendant and adjourned the case until Dec. 9 for hearing.
