The Arewa Cohesion for Peace, Unity and Development Initiative (ACI) has appealed to the Federal Government to take decisive measures to end the worsening insecurity in Northern Nigeria.
The call was made on Sunday in Kaduna during a press briefing to commemorate the 2025 International Day of Peace, themed “Act Now for a Peaceful World.”
Dr. Abdullahi Idris, Director-General of ACI, lamented the persistent violence in states such as Zamfara, Kaduna, Katsina, Plateau, and Benue, where killings, kidnappings, and destruction of livelihoods continue to disrupt communities.
“Protecting lives and fostering peaceful coexistence must become the nation’s most urgent priority,” Idris stressed.
He called for immediate, solutions-driven social engagements to address the crisis, while also urging society to shift away from glorifying wealth and spectacle toward rewarding integrity.
ACI reaffirmed its commitment to grassroots peacebuilding, public enlightenment, and advocacy for good governance across the region.
“Peace is not a luxury; it is a necessity for survival and progress,” Idris said.
The group closed its statement with a three-part appeal: “Act now for a Peaceful North. Act now for a Peaceful Nigeria. Act now for a Peaceful World.”
