The All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors under the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) have reiterated their unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda aimed at driving national development.
In a communiqué issued at the end of their meeting held in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, from Oct. 16 to 17, the forum, chaired by Gov. Hope Uzodimma of Imo, pledged to continue aligning state-level initiatives with the Federal Government’s vision for cooperative federalism and inclusive economic growth.
Uzodimma noted that the gathering served as a platform for APC governors to evaluate the country’s socio-economic progress and assess the role of sub-national governments in accelerating national transformation.
He said the forum highlighted the importance of collaboration among the federal, state, and local governments, describing it as a model for effective governance and balanced development.
The governors also welcomed Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, to the APC, describing his defection as a significant milestone that raises the number of APC-controlled states to 24. They lauded President Tinubu and the party’s leadership for fostering inclusivity, unity, and ideological clarity across the federation.
During the session, the governors reviewed national issues relating to politics, security, and the economy, expressing satisfaction with ongoing reforms in fiscal policy, food security, infrastructure, power supply, and social intervention programmes.
According to Uzodimma, the forum acknowledged that under the current administration, the economy is witnessing gradual improvement with declining inflation and interest rates, alongside rising revenue for all tiers of government.
They further praised President Tinubu for introducing people-oriented initiatives through the National Economic Council, which are designed to create economic opportunities across the country’s 8,809 wards.
The forum appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to adopt dialogue as a means of resolving its ongoing dispute, stressing that peaceful engagement is crucial for the stability of the education sector and the future of Nigerian students.
