Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde on Tuesday identified with demonstrators over the economic situation in the country.
The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, had declared the nationwide between today and tomorrow, February 28 to protest the hardship being experienced by citizens.
The governor, in display of solidarity with the labour union and protesters, stated that hardship has risen to a frightening proportion as many are unable to feed or transport themselves to work.
Makinde however tasked all sides to collaborate to find answers to the economic challenges while expressing optimism that the situation could be turned around.
“There is hunger and hardship in the land, we must do something about it,” the governor remarked.
Governor Makinde further noted that the worsening economic situation is not peculiar to Oyo State, but rather a nationwide issue.
He called on the Federal Government to take action to alleviate the suffering of the people through policies that promote growth and job creation.
