FRSC Scales Up License Production to 15,000 per Day

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has expanded its driver’s licence production capacity to 15,000 per day as part of ongoing efforts to eliminate the backlog of pending applications nationwide.

Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed disclosed this on Monday in Abuja while inspecting the VIP Capture Centre in the company of journalists.

He said the development followed a major upgrade of the corps’ printing facility to resolve long-standing challenges faced by applicants in obtaining driver’s licences and vehicle number plates.

According to him, the upgraded system will ensure faster processing, reduce waiting time, and enhance data accuracy, reflecting FRSC’s broader goal of improving service delivery through technology.

Mohammed stated that the new production capacity would enable the corps to clear all outstanding licence applications before the second week of November 2025.

He explained that a comprehensive plan had been put in place to sustain the improved output and prevent delays that previously affected the process.

Reaffirming the agency’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and accountability, Mohammed said the FRSC was determined to deliver timely and seamless services across all its offices.

He, however, expressed concern over the 206,000 printed driver’s licences that remain uncollected across the country and urged applicants to visit designated centres to retrieve their documents.

“Out of 800,000 pending driver’s licences nationwide, 400,000 have already been printed, but 206,000 are still awaiting collection,” he said.

The Corps Marshal attributed the significant reduction in the backlog to the dedication of FRSC staff working in shifts and commended their commitment to meeting daily targets.

He expressed confidence that the improved system and staff dedication would soon restore normalcy to driver’s license production and completely eliminate processing delays.
