FRSC Recovers Stolen Vehicle During Routine Patrol in Lagos

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has recovered a stolen vehicle during a routine enforcement operation at its RS2.1114 Isolo Unit Command in Lagos State.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide.

According to him, patrol operatives intercepted a Toyota Sienna, ash in colour, with registration number LSD438GK on Saturday at about 5:11 p.m. The vehicle was stopped for a licence violation after the driver failed to present valid documentation, leading to its impoundment in line with FRSC procedures.

Further checks later revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen and the driver declared wanted. The suspect was subsequently handed over in handcuffs to the Nigeria Police Force, Ajao Division, on Monday for further legal action.

Ogungbemide noted that the incident underscored the importance of routine patrols in uncovering criminal activities, adding that what began as a simple traffic stop resulted in the recovery of a stolen vehicle.

He also highlighted the significance of the National Vehicle Identification Scheme in improving vehicle traceability and crime prevention across the country. According to him, the initiative has aided in identifying, tracking and recovering stolen vehicles, strengthened inter-agency collaboration and enhanced transparency in vehicle registration.

The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, commended the officers involved in the recovery and reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to leveraging technology, intelligence and strategic partnerships to protect lives and property on Nigerian roads.

Motorists were urged to ensure proper documentation and cooperate fully with officers during routine patrol operations.
