FOMWAN celebrate 40 Years of Dedicated Service to Humanity

Bauchi-based women’s organisation has highlighted the remarkable strides it has made in education, healthcare, humanitarian assistance, and community development over the past four decades, as it celebrates its 40th anniversary.

The Chairperson of the Bauchi State chapter of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN), Hajiya Habiba Usman, made this known in a statement issued on Tuesday to commemorate the 2026 FOMWAN Week.

The weeklong celebration, scheduled to run from June 1 to June 7 nationwide, is aimed at reflecting on the association’s achievements and contributions to national development.

FOMWAN is a faith-based organisation committed to advancing education, healthcare, economic empowerment, humanitarian services, and Islamic propagation across Nigeria.

Usman described the association’s achievements over the last 40 years as evidence of its unwavering commitment to improving lives and supporting vulnerable communities.

According to her, the anniversary serves as a moment of reflection on the organisation’s contributions to education, healthcare delivery, humanitarian interventions, and Islamic Da’awah.

She noted that FOMWAN has continued to make meaningful impacts through initiatives that support girl-child education, improve educational infrastructure, promote maternal and child health, assist widows and orphans, and strengthen Islamic awareness among communities.

“Forty years is more than a celebration of longevity; it is a reflection of our commitment to education, healthcare, humanitarian service, and Da’awah, which have remained central to our mission in Bauchi State and throughout Nigeria.

“As we look back on four decades of service, we are inspired by the positive changes that collective efforts can bring and remain committed to building stronger communities for future generations,” she said.

Usman expressed appreciation to members, partners, and volunteers whose dedication and sacrifices have contributed significantly to the growth and success of the association.

She also called on members to renew their commitment to the organisation’s vision and continue working towards greater service to humanity.

Speaking on the association’s forthcoming leadership elections, she offered prayers for a peaceful and successful process, expressing confidence that the incoming executives would sustain and expand on the achievements recorded by previous administrations.
