The Federal Government has taken delivery of an upgraded solar-powered electric tricycle as part of ongoing efforts to expand youth empowerment, promote sustainable innovation and drive inclusive economic growth.
The tricycle, developed through a strategic partnership between House of Destiny and the National Commercial Tricycles and Motorcycles Owners and Riders Association (NATOMORAS), was presented to the Federal Ministry of Youth Development in Abuja.
Receiving the delegation, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Maryam Keshinro, applauded the initiative, describing it as a practical solution capable of easing economic hardship among vulnerable youths while creating pathways to employment and self-reliance.
She highlighted the importance of collaboration in advancing youth development, likening the partnership to the three wheels of a tricycle, each playing a critical role in sustaining balance and forward movement.
Keshinro commended House of Destiny for its dedication to addressing challenges confronting young people and marginalised groups, stressing that youth empowerment remained a national priority.
She explained that the project aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, which places young people at the centre of Nigeria’s development strategy.
According to her, the tricycles represent more than a means of transportation, serving instead as tools for job creation, dignity and economic independence, while also encouraging innovation and the adoption of environmentally friendly technologies.
Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of House of Destiny, Dr Israel Olajumoke, said the initiative demonstrated the power of strategic partnerships in generating sustainable income opportunities, stimulating creativity and building resilience among Nigerian youths.
He added that the programme also encouraged greater participation of women in sectors traditionally dominated by men, noting that inclusive empowerment strengthens communities and promotes equitable access to economic opportunities.
Olajumoke reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to scaling the initiative nationwide by deepening partnerships with relevant stakeholders to expand renewable energy solutions and promote broader economic inclusion.
Also speaking, the President of NATOMORAS, Alhaji Usman Gwoza, represented by the association’s Secretary, Ms Madonna Corosi, disclosed that 20 of the solar-powered tricycles had been distributed in Yobe State, bringing the total number of units deployed across several states to 74.
She added that the project continued to advance youth entrepreneurship, renewable energy adoption and access to sustainable livelihoods across the country.
