A former Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Season 10 housemate, Kayode Oladele, popularly known as Kaybobo, has pledged to promote sports among youths in Ekiti State through his newly established Kaybobo Youth Foundation.
Oladele made the announcement while addressing members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ekiti State chapter, in Ado-Ekiti. The Ado-Ekiti native recounted his basketball journey, which began at Christ School and All Souls Secondary School, saying it gave him recognition both nationally and internationally.
“My coach, Tayo Awojurin, played a crucial role in shaping my career. His guidance and support took me from Ekiti to Lagos and eventually overseas, where I pursued various university degrees and achieved significant milestones,” Oladele said.
He explained that the foundation aims to nurture and develop young talent in sports and other creative sectors, including entertainment, fashion, tourism, and arts. “I am assuring every youth in Ekiti who wishes to play basketball that I will support them to become professional players and sports personalities,” he said.
Oladele also urged parents to provide unconditional support for their children’s sporting ambitions, sharing his own experience of initially facing resistance from his mother while in secondary school. “If not for Coach Awojurin’s intervention, I would not have reached the level I am today,” he added.
In a gesture of goodwill, Oladele distributed 20 customised caps to members of SWAN and promised continued collaboration with the association to advance sports development in the state.
The SWAN Chairman, Qozeem Oladapo, commended Oladele’s initiative and assured him of the association’s full support in promoting his foundation and nurturing sporting talent in Ekiti.
