Ember Months: FRSC Cautions Motorists Against Over-Speeding and Reckless Driving

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Command, has urged motorists to exercise caution and reduce speed during the ember months in order to curb avoidable road crashes.

Mr. Nasir Mohammed, the FRSC Commander overseeing the Sagamu-Ore-Benin Expressway, emphasized that while speeding may feel thrilling, it remains one of the leading causes of fatal accidents. He stressed the need for drivers to maintain moderate speed to ensure their safety and that of other road users.

“We appeal to motorists to comply with traffic signs and keep to the recommended speed limits to reduce preventable crashes, especially during the ember months,” Mohammed said.

He further advised against night journeys, reckless driving, and dangerous overtaking, describing them as high-risk behaviors that often lead to tragedies.

The route commander also cautioned drivers against drunk-driving, noting that impaired judgment behind the wheel could easily result in accidents.

According to him, the FRSC will intensify public enlightenment campaigns and road patrols across Ogun State to sensitize motorists on the dangers of violating traffic regulations.
