Electric Vehicle firm to solve mass transit challenge through local content

The Chief Executive Officer of NEV Electric Ltd, Mr. Mosope Olaosebikan, has pledged the firm’s dedication to tackling Nigeria’s mass transit problems through clean energy solutions and greater reliance on local production.

He gave the assurance in Abuja on Wednesday during a media chat, stressing that Nigeria must look beyond fuel importation if it wants to strengthen its transportation sector.

According to him, as Nigeria commemorates 65 years of nationhood, the real focus must be on economic independence and industrial growth, not just political freedom.

“In the transport sector, NEV Electric Ltd is emerging as a key player shaping that vision, using local manufacturing and clean energy to solve Nigeria’s mass transit challenges.

Olaosebikan explained that the company’s integrated approach aligns with the country’s industrial policy and has the potential to make Nigeria a leader in e-mobility within West Africa.

He noted that the initiative goes beyond providing electric buses, as it includes training, charging networks, and a financing model designed to make adoption easier for operators.

With the global shift away from fossil fuels, Nigeria’s gradual embrace of electric vehicles estimated at 15,000 to 20,000 units already in use by 2025 signals a growing market that NEV Electric hopes to drive forward.
