The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Print Media, Mr Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, has said the growing number of politicians defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) reflects widespread confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s leadership and the direction of his administration.
Abdulaziz made the assertion on Sunday while addressing a large crowd of APC supporters at a rally in Fagge, Kano State.
He said President Tinubu’s inclusive leadership style had continued to attract politicians from across party lines and geopolitical zones.
“There is no political party in Nigeria today that symbolises unity like the APC,” he said.
According to him, several governors from the South-South geopolitical zone had aligned with the APC, while the party was also gaining strength in the South-East, with more defections expected.
Abdulaziz dismissed the newly formed opposition coalition, noting that no sitting governor had joined the group.
He highlighted key economic initiatives of the Tinubu administration, including ongoing road and rail projects, compensation for communities affected by infrastructure development, and the introduction of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as a production-side subsidy aimed at reducing transportation costs.
He cited the Sokoto–Badagry dual carriageway, as well as extensive road construction projects in northern states such as Kano, Niger and Katsina, as evidence of the administration’s commitment to development.
“The president’s reforms are designed for long-term stability and shared prosperity,” Abdulaziz said.
He added that many Nigerians were beginning to experience the dividends of democracy, noting that citizens were gradually “smiling again” as the impact of the reforms became more visible.
Abdulaziz concluded that the APC remained the strongest platform for national unity, progress and sustainable development, and called on Nigerians to continue supporting President Tinubu’s agenda.
