The Seme Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Friday decorated 66 senior officers who were recently promoted, during a ceremony held at the ECOWAS Complex, Joint Border Post (JBP), Seme-Krake.
In a statement, the command’s spokesperson, Mr. Isa Sulaiman, said the event was presided over by the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Wale Adenuga, who urged the officers to see their elevation as a higher call to service and responsibility.
Adenuga reminded the newly decorated officers that promotion demands humility, teamwork, and a stronger sense of duty to the Service and the nation.
“It is not a licence for arrogance but a call to greater responsibility. Work in unity, support your subordinates, and let us collectively make the Seme Command a reference point for professionalism and excellence,” he said.
The CAC also commended the Comptroller-General of Customs, Mr. Adewale Adeniyi, and his management team for conducting a credible and transparent promotion exercise. He reiterated the command’s commitment to supporting the CGC’s vision anchored on trade facilitation and efficient border management.
He noted that the command would sustain its collaboration with relevant stakeholders to strengthen operations and maintain Seme as a model border post in the West African region.
Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, CSC Oreyeni Olufemi expressed appreciation to the CGC, the Area Controller, colleagues, and families for their support. He assured that the officers would rededicate themselves to the service of the country and uphold the values of the NCS.
The ceremony was attended by senior representatives of other security agencies operating at the Joint Border Post, including the Nigeria Immigration Service, Department of State Services, Port Health Service, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
Also present were officials of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service, the Police Anti-Bomb Unit, as well as family members of the decorated officers who came to celebrate the milestone.
