COWA Kaduna Conducts Humanitarian Outreach, Empowers Widow

The Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA), Kaduna State chapter, has carried out a humanitarian outreach to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital and Magajin Gari Orphanage Home, supporting vulnerable groups across the state.

Led by the Chairperson, Mrs. Madinatu Hassan, the initiative aligns with COWA’s commitment to social responsibility and community development. At Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, the delegation donated essential relief materials to patients to ease their hospital stay and aid recovery. Hospital management welcomed the team and briefed them on the facility’s needs after a tour of the wards.

At Magajin Gari Orphanage Home, COWA provided baby items, toiletries, and foodstuffs to the children. The orphanage management and caregivers expressed gratitude, describing the gesture as timely and impactful.

Hassan emphasized that COWA remains dedicated to complementing the efforts of the Nigeria Customs Service by promoting goodwill and extending care to the less privileged. She stated, “Compassion and service to humanity are core values of COWA, and such interventions strengthen community ties and improve the wellbeing of vulnerable persons.”

In line with its empowerment drive, the Kaduna chapter also supported a widow, Mrs. Sarah Japhet, a member of COWA. The empowerment package included the revival of her business, renovation of her shop, and payment of rent, enabling her to sustain her livelihood and support her family.

Hassan highlighted that empowering widows and vulnerable women is central to COWA’s mission, noting that women’s economic independence strengthens families and fosters resilient communities. She thanked members for their support and pledged that COWA will continue initiating programmes that positively impact lives across Kaduna State and beyond.
