Councilors, BLG management join chairman to honors Akran’s memory

The Chairman of Badagry Local Government Area, Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Hunpe, led a delegation on Tuesday evening to pay condolences to the family of the late Akran of Badagry, Aholu Menu-Toyi 1.

Aholu Menu-Toyi 1 passed away on Monday, January 12, at the age of 89 after serving 48 years on the throne.

Hunpe, accompanied by council management and councillors, was received by members of the royal family, palace officials, and a cross-section of Badagry indigenes gathered at the palace to mourn the traditional ruler.

In his message of condolence, the chairman extended sympathy to the Akran family, the traditional council, and the entire Badagry community over their loss.

He described the late monarch as a selfless, wise, and dedicated leader whose reign was distinguished by his commitment to peace, unity, and the development of Badagry.

Hunpe reaffirmed the council’s support for the traditional institution and the people of Badagry, praying that the late Akran’s legacy would continue to inspire progress and harmony across the community.

The council formally presented an official condolence letter to the family, with Prince Seyon Akran, the firstborn of the late monarch, receiving it on behalf of the family.

Prince Akran expressed gratitude to the Executive Chairman and the council for their support and solidarity during this period of mourning.

Prayers were also offered for the peaceful transition of the late Akran into the company of his ancestors, as well as comfort and strength for his family and the people of Badagry.

The delegation included Vice Chairman Alhaji Akeem Adeyemi, Leader of the House Mr. Mautin Asokere, other councillors, and key management staff such as Council Manager Mrs. Abosede Olusanya and Council Treasurer Mr. Olugbenga Hunponu.

The visit underscored the council’s respect for the traditional institution and its commitment to supporting the royal family and the broader Badagry community during this period of loss.
