Buni Hails Machina Cultural Festival as Key to Preserving Yobe’s Heritage

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has described the annual Machina Cultural Festival as an important platform for sustaining the state’s cultural heritage and strengthening community identity.

Buni made the remarks on Sunday while attending the grand finale of the Machina Cultural Festival, popularly known as MACUF, held in Machina town.

The governor assured residents that his administration would work towards the revival of cultural festivals across the state as part of efforts to protect traditions and promote unity among communities.

He commended the Machina Emirate for successfully organising the festival, which featured colourful durbar processions, traditional wrestling contests and cultural dance performances.

According to Buni, the festival showcased a harmonious blend of cultural heritage and modern expression, reflecting the values and identity of the people.

He also advised young people to shun drug abuse and other social vices, urging them to live disciplined and responsible lives.

Buni said youths should conduct themselves in ways that bring pride to their families, traditional institutions and the state, while preparing themselves to become responsible leaders of the future.

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure across Yobe to enhance livelihoods and raise living standards.

Earlier in the day, he inspected the completed Machina Sesame Seeds Processing Plant as well as the Machina Modern Market, which is nearing completion.

Buni praised Damuli International Company, the contractor handling the projects, for delivering quality work and adhering to project timelines.

The governor was accompanied by former Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Senator Musa Mustapha, House of Representatives member Tijjani Zakariya and other government officials during the visit.
