ASUU-FUOYE Declares Indefinite Strike Over Unpaid Salaries

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) branch, has embarked on an indefinite strike over unpaid salaries.

The union announced the action in a letter addressed to the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olubunmi Shittu. The letter, jointly signed by the branch Chairman, O. A. Fagbuagun, and the Financial Secretary, Ngwu Benitho, explained that the strike would continue until all outstanding salaries were settled.

According to the FUOYE chapter, the decision aligns with a directive from the ASUU National Executive Council, which instructs branches to suspend academic activities if staff salaries are not paid by the third day of each month.

“As directed by the national body, our branch has proceeded on strike until our salaries are paid. This action is total, indefinite, and comprehensive,” the union stated in the letter.
