Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralised nine terrorists, arrested eight criminal suspects, and rescued 37 kidnapped victims in a series of coordinated operations across different regions of the country.
A reliable military source at the Army Headquarters disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), noting that the operations also led to the recovery of assorted weapons and logistics supplies.
According to the source, troops of the 151 Task Force Battalion ambushed members of ISWAP and Boko Haram at Dipchari in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State, killing five insurgents.
Similarly, troops of the 148 Battalion operating along the Ekiti–Kogi border neutralised two terrorists and recovered two AK-47 rifles.
In another encounter, troops of the 3 Battalion successfully repelled a major attack on their base, killing one terrorist and forcing others to flee with gunshot injuries.
Across Borno, Katsina, Imo, and Plateau States, eight suspects were apprehended for alleged involvement in terrorism, kidnapping, and arms trafficking. Those arrested include an ISWAP logistics courier, a known terrorist collaborator, a wanted IPOB/ESN kingpin, and a suspected gunrunner.
The source added that troops also recovered various firearms, ammunition, and several motorcycles used by the criminals.
Ongoing clearance operations across Kaduna, Taraba, Plateau, Delta, and Kebbi States resulted in the rescue of 37 kidnapped victims. Notably, 28 hostages — including a pregnant woman who gave birth during the operation — were freed in Sakaba, Kebbi State.
In the South South region, troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade and Operation DELTA SAFE destroyed multiple illegal refining sites in Imo State, seizing over 20,000 litres of stolen crude oil and refined products.
The Army Headquarters, according to the source, commended the joint efforts of security agencies and local vigilante groups that contributed to the success of the operations.
He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, while supporting the Federal Government’s drive for food security and national stability.
