The Nigerian Army has stepped up operations nationwide, neutralising terrorists, rescuing kidnapped victims, arresting suspects, and recovering weapons between August 31 and September 1.
In Zamfara State, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA ambushed terrorists at Kwanar Jollof in Shinkafi Local Government Area, freeing nine hostages — three women and six children. Soldiers also recovered an AK-47 rifle, 20 rounds of ammunition, motorcycles, mobile phones, and other supplies after securing the area.
Similarly, troops of the 8 Division Garrison engaged terrorists at Gidan Garkuwa in Tureta Local Government Area of Sokoto, killing one and seizing an AK-47 rifle with ammunition. In Tsafe LGA, Zamfara, 1 Brigade troops disrupted armed groups, confiscating motorcycles and military uniforms to weaken terrorist mobility and logistics in the North West.
In Borno State, one suspected ISWAP/JAS fighter surrendered to troops of 242 Recce Battalion in Monguno. The suspect, who claimed to have been active since 2013, reportedly abandoned the group due to internal conflicts and hardship.
Elsewhere, troops foiled an armed robbery attempt along the Jos–Bauchi road in Plateau State and repelled a cattle rustling incident in Mangu Local Government Area, preventing loss of lives and property.
The Army also targeted economic sabotage. In Rivers and Lagos States, troops uncovered illegal refining operations and arrested suspects involved in stealing construction materials, reinforcing the military’s nationwide crackdown on criminality.
